Recently GN sold its new set of SRU (Solids Removal Unit) to an international customer which is a long time customer for GN and this is the 3rd order from the customer for this unit. The new SRU consists of 752 shale shaker, 223 mini decanter centrifuge and centrifugal pump and mixing hopper. When it’s working, the shale shaker will do the first coarse screening of the solids and the mud will be transferred to decanter centrifuge by centrifugal pump for finer screening. This unit is also equipped with a mixing hopper which makes it easy for add chemicals into the mud to meet the working requirement. And there are many advantages: the dimension of the unit is 4000*4000*2300mm which makes it easy for transportation and mobilized during operation. It’s also environmental friendly and sump free during operation. The unit is very high efficient which will save a lot of time and cost. And it’s easy to be assembled and disassembled. Due to its many edges, the unit is widely used in many mining and diamond core drilling industry which requires small volume of mud during operation.

Recently GN released its four solid control systems and today we will introduce one of them, it is Solids Removal Unit for mining industry. The Solids Removal Unit (SRU) is mainly used in the drilling fluids and solids control for the small size mining rigs for the diamond drilling. The solids removal units can provide the cost effective solution for the solids removal, reduced the environmental impact to the minimum level and greatly improved the efficiency for the diamond drilling. So it’s highly appraised by the drilling experts as the future of the diamond drilling industry. The Solids removal unit is a closed loop for drilling fluid and solid process system. It contains mini shale shaker, mini decanter centrifuge (This is GN’s 223 centrifuge which is the world’s smallest.), pumps, mixing tanks and generators(optional). The working theory is simple, the drilling fluid will be circulated from the wellbore and went onto the shale shaker for coarse screening, the fluids will flow down to the tank and be pumped up by another feeding pump into the decanter centrifuge for finer screening. And the cleaner fluid will be recirculated into the well for drilling. There are also mixing hopper, chamber and pumps making the adding of chemical easy.

Recently GN successfully released its third generation of solidification unit for drilling cuttings. Based on its former two generations, now GN made some new improvement and fix some problems from the feedback of the oilfield users. Different from its former two generations built on one skid, this new generation was built on two separate skids, one skid is with drilling cuttings collecting hopper and screw conveyor, the other skid is storage tank, solidification mixer vessel and conveyor. This two skid can save the footprint and make the onsite oilfield layout more flexible due to the limited area in the field under some special operation circumstances. This new unit features with larger storage capacity for solidification agent, flushing system and stronger mixing unit for heavy duty work. And it’s still convenient for transportation, can be easily fit into the 40 feet container. And the unit will handle most of the waste from the discharges from the shale shaker and decanter centrifuge. The cost is relatively low comparing to other similar products. This is a very cost effective equipment for you.

The liquid mud plant is one of its systems which mainly used in onshore or offshore to keep the mud properties as good as possible during the mud is circulating in the wellbore. GN Solids Control is a world famous company specializing in manufacturing drilling mud solid control and waste management and recycling. Its product range covers shale shaker, desander, desilter, vacuum degasser, decanter centrifuge, cutting dryer, centrifugal pump, screw pump and so on. Its products are mainly used in oil and gas drilling, civil works(like piling, TBM, HDD), and mining industry.

In the oil and gas drilling application, there is one important equipment in the solid control system, that is vacuum degasser. It is usually used after the shale shaker and before the mud cleaner. The main application of the degasser is to eliminate the gas immersed in the drilling mud, which will help restoring the mud weight, stabilizing the slurry viscosity, reducing the drilling cost, and preventing the well blow out accident. The vacuum degasser is mainly composed of vacuum tank installed on a skid base, vacuum pump, gas water separator, control panel, explosive proof motor. Its working principle is that: under the effect of the suction power from vacuum pump, negative pressure zone will be generated in the vacuum tank, and the drilling mud will enter the hollow shaft of the rotor through the suction tube under the effect of the atmospheric pressure. Then the mud will hit the windows of the hollow shaft and be sprayed to the wall of vacuum tank. Under the collision effect of the separation baffle, the mud will be separated into thin layers, and bubbles immersed in the mud will be broken up and comes out. The gas will be discharged by the vacuum pump and gas water separator to the safe zone, the mud will be discharged outside of the tank by impeller. In the whole process, the rotor will keep running at high speed under the power of main motor.
